How to De-Stress in a Stress Filled World
With all that’s going on in the world, I don’t need to tell you what stress is.
The tips below have helped many.  Maybe something here will help you, too.
How can I de-stress or become stress-free?
  • Prayer, Praise and Meditation. Encourages the body’s innate healing power.
  • Breathing. Focusing on deep, slower breathing helps muscles and brain relax.
  • Sleep. Try to get at least 7 hours of sleep a night to renew body and brain.
  • Check Your Diet. Increase your whole food intake (especially your greens). Decrease your caffeine and sugar intake.
  • Reading – Getting lost in a good book encourages relaxation.
  • Journaling. Record your feelings, the things you are thankful for and the things that bring you joy. Review often.
  • Volunteer. Serving others helps you get out of your own head.
  • Avoid unhealthy coping mechanisms. Alcohol, tobacco, drugs or rich foods, add to stress in the long run.
  • Check out natural help in the form of herbs, homeopathics, essential oils and vitamins/minerals.
  • Turn off Negative news. Sure you need to know what’s going on, but not on and on and on. You can’t see the positive when inundated with the negative.
Which exercises work best for stress-reduction?
  • Yoga helps lower blood pressure, heart rate and stress.
  • Dancing- fun activities reduce stress.
  • Cycling. Get outdoors and rediscover child-like joy as you pedal at whatever intensity you choose.
  • Tai chi supports mind and body
  • Gardening helps people de-stress. And it can help you burn up to 400 calories per day!
  • Walk outdoors. Soak in nature and feel the stress melt away.
Stress comes as a result of what you think. Change your thinking to change your life. Think differently. Let things go. Think positively. Focus on all that’s still good right now and be thankful for all the good you still have all around you every day.
